Dr. Stephen Hunt Discusses Nets Player’s Injury in New York Post
The NBA's Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving has been diagnosed with impingement in his right shoulder. Fellowship-trained sports medicine specialist Dr. Stephen Hunt of Tri-County Orthopedics weighs in on Irving’s injury and outlook for the New York Post.
Dr. Hunt, who serves as a consultant for the NFL’s New York Jets, understands the outlook for Irving as well as the demands for high-level athletes.
“[Shoulder impingement] usually responds to short rest or therapeutic exercises . . . to restore shoulder mechanics,” says Dr. Hunt. “Sometimes injections can be used to reduce inflammation in the shoulder, which will in turn improve pain.”
